Naturopathic doctors represent primary health care providers, who use natural therapies to provide health care for people of all ages with any medical concern. Naturopathic doctors will emphasize prevention and support the body’s natural healing abilities to obtain optimal health.
Dr. Rita Patel, ND, will meet with each patient in order to understand the presenting symptoms and identify the underlying cause of illness. She will take a thorough intake, perform relevant physical exams and request necessary laboratory tests to diagnose and treat the root cause of the disease. Treatment choices include nutritional and lifestyle counseling, botanical medicine, acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine, homeopathic medicine, and hydrotherapy. Dr. Patel, ND, will create an individualized treatment plan designed specifically for the patient, to help achieve and maintain optimum health.
In addition to seeing patients at Health Mantra Physiotherapy Clinic and at McMaster University Student Wellness Center, Dr. Patel, ND teaches at the Brampton Naturopathic Teaching Clinic and the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic. Furthermore, she teaches Clinical Skills and Naturopathic Foundations for the International Medical Graduate cohort at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). In addition, she assists in teaching Physical and Clinical Diagnosis and Primary Care for second and third-year students at CCNM and is a guest lecturer at McMaster University.
